Frequently Asked Questions

We use Google Drive, can I use the Symboliser?

Yes, absolutely!

  • Put your PowerPoint document in your Google Drive folder on a Windows computer
  • Use the Symboliser buttons to add symbols to your document
  • Make sure you have saved your document
  • Go to Google Drive in a browser
  • Find the PowerPoint document
  • You can open the document with Google Docs
  • You will be able to do some edits if you need to
    • In general, we would recommend not using Google Slides to open or edit PowerPoint documents: you can do a lot more with PowerPoint than with Google Slides. Google Slides can mangle things you have created in PowerPoint.
  • If you want to use the symboliser functions
    • Close the PowerPoint document in Google Docs
    • Open the document on Windows and continue editing
    • Any changes you make should sync between your computer and Google Drive

We can no longer afford the Symboliser, can we still see the symbols in our PowerPoint documents?

Yes, of course!

If you no longer have the Symboliser, nothing happens to your documents.

You can still open them, edit them, see the symbols that you already added. They are just PowerPoint documents that can be opened in PowerPoint and lots of other software – including free software!

You will no longer have the symboliser tools, but nothing else will have changed.
